Kurdistan Organization for Rehabilitation of the Disabled (KORD) has been established in 2004 and officially registered with the Ministry of Relations and Cooperation as a local NGO. KORD runs a programme by Handicap International Belgium which started in 1991 for physical rehabilitation for the disabled in Northern Iraq.
The programme has developed a deep and broadly recognized expertise in the support to the physical and psycho-social rehabilitation for war and mine victims and other people with lower limb disabilities/handicaps. The project is providing orthopaedic, physiotherapeutic, and social services through:
Vincent Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Centre - VORC in Slémani
Halabja Orthopaedic & Rehabilitation Centre - HORC in Halabja
Kalar Rehabilitation outreach post - KOP in Kalar
Penjwin Rehabilitation outreach post - POP in Penjwin
Raniya Rehabilitation outreach post - ROP in Raniya
